To be qualified to register to vote in West Virginia, a person must:
Be a citizen of the United States;
Be a legal resident of West Virginia and the county where they are applying to register;
Reside at their registered legal address for at least thirty (30) days before the election to be considered eligible to vote. This thirty-day requirement also applies to elections in municipalities, barring other language in municipal charters; and
Be at least eighteen years of age (or seventeen years of age if the voter will be eighteen by the next general election).
To register to vote for elections held in West Virginia, citizens may apply online, by mail-in application, or in-person at the Secretary of State’s Office or local County Clerk’s office.
